Carmun: Social Networking of Research
Carmun is meant to be the social network of the collegiate research world. I haven’t done much with it yet, as I don’t have a research paper to work on, but it looks promising.
You can start a project, and then look for citations that other students have uploaded with tags that go with your project. To test it, I typed in, “overthrow hawaii” because I may start writing something on the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy in 1893 for my world cultures class. Surprisingly, it came up with a book that I had checked out of the library.
Also part of the website is a group feature. Each group comes equipped with a forum of sorts, so you can converse with students that have similar interests as you.
When Carmun is complete (it will eventually have a “create your own bibliography” feature), it looks like it will be a powerful tool to converse with other college students.
